Aaron Ashmore may have looked familiar to Smallville fans before taking the role of Jimmy Olsen, and not necessarily because he had been on the show before.

Aaron's twin brother, Shawn, did appear - in the Season 1 episode "Leech" as Eric Summers. And now, nearly five years later, Aaron has taken on the role of Superman's [future] pal.

Though Jimmy was for a while paired with Chloe, Aaron has had a history of dating young snarky blondes before. In the first season of Veronica Mars, Aaron had a recurring role as Troy Vandegraff.

In the episode "Doomsday," "Jimmy Olsen" was killed and it was revealed he's actually Henry James Olsen. The "real" Jimmy remains out there...

Trivia! One of Aaron's co-stars in a Veronica Mars episode was Sam Huntington, who played Jimmy Olsen in Superman Returns!
